Many of these records were destroyed in 1814
All of the surviving records have been indexed, microfilmed, and digitized

Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is one of the best sources to research ancestors who fought in the revolution
The website contains three ways to search: Ancestor database, member search, and descendants database
The Ancestor Search Database contains the name of all known patriots established by DAR members

Sons of the American Revolution (SAR)
SAR does not have a patriot index, however, Ancestry has digitized and indexed Sons of the American Revolution Membership Applications, 1889-1970
